Idyllwild

Idyllwild, CA. 180 miles in. Today I ate an entire 16 inch pizza to myself. Yesterday I stepped on a rattlesnake and did not even get bitten. Not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Mailed a few more journals home, so keep checking for updates soon.

  2. I just learned in my first aid re certification that out of around 5,000 recorded snake bites only 5 deaths occur. I believe you would have survived my friend.

  5. Hello Mae! I sleep on a pad on the ground in my sleeping bag. If it looks like it might rain, I put up a really lightweight tent that I am carrying with me. Rattlesnakes are pretty scary at first, but I have quickly gotten used to them. They generally just want to be left alone, and I certainly am happy to abide by that request.

Noah- I know which way to go because I am following a trail, and I am carrying maps, that when used with a compass, tell me exactly where I am and need to go.
